...and then I broke my camera.
Through Rose Colored Glasses

I tell ya, I don't know how I get through the day sometimes. lol, but I always manage to have fun! I may have dropped my camera in the sand breaking the lens (again) and losing my harmonica, but my day would not have been complete if it weren't waking up to headlights and a man's voice yelling, "ROCKAWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT, SHOW YOURSELF!" Sleeping in the back of Tonka the pickup, we had constructed a make shift tent using a tarp and a stick, apparently parked in an illegal parking lot behind the church. Luckily we had previously gotten permission from the priest, which was "good enough" for the cops. Apparently, we forgot to put 'Dodge The Fuzz' on our beach list!

I have to pop-a-squat again!?

5am Wake up call: stick falling and tent caving-in, scarring the BEJEEZIES out of me! Nothing like the jolt of wood hitting metal, water, and ceiling caving upon your unprotected body to give ya a good ole "rise and shine!" We decided to pack camp and wait the rain out in a coffee shop. Here we met about 12 local senior citizens who get coffee there everyday and chat for a couple hours. We were already the talk of the town with our pick-up bed tent behind the church. They were all alot of fun to say the least! After semi going to church we jumped in line for doughnuts where a couple from the town who have started a microfinancial loan bank in Haiti, advocated their program. Being the youngest people, they zoned in on us to recruit. It was interesting to talk social justice and discuss the positives and negatives with nonprofits. So If I ever feel like volunteering for a couple weeks, I now have the hookups. I think it would be incredible to go, and I like what they're providing knowledge resources as well as financial, building long term growth instead of temporary. (They work like Kiva only specifically directed at Haiti and teach business skills with the loan process so the people learn how to be successful)

After enjoying some Tillamook icecream at the factory we completed our trip in Cape Mears with some intense wave jumping. The ocean ate my harmonica, the sand broke my camera, and the sun toasted every surface area of my skin, but I captured its beauty, held on to its music, and touched its peace. We're both left with amazing memories, I think we're even.
