Chris Haberman, "Street Musician", Oil & Found Materials, 2006

As of about a month ago, I am volunteering at a local nonprofit, p:ear. It educates transitional and homeless youth (14-24 yrs old) through the arts. I like that they are not trying to 'fix' the kids, but teach them to channel their emotions through a positive outlet such as art. They have a great facilities in downtown Portland, where I am working with Marcia to run the gallery. I am mostly providing marketing, graphic design, as well as other duties like installation and outshows.

This is the front of the exhibit card for Chris Haberman's show, whose opening reception is on October 1st. We also collaborate the student work with the artist showing that month. They get to choose their own selling points and come to the opening etc. Their work is incredibly fascinating because there is so much content to it. They put so much feeling into it, that it creates a level of depthness that tends to be lost in a lot of today's work. You can't help, but to be intrigued and drawn into their heads.

It's fun to be apart of and I look forward to working and learning with Marcia and doing more as the months go on!
